The French Way.

It is the quintessential Camino. The Jacobean route with the greatest historical tradition and the most internationally recognized. It was already described in 1135 in the Codex Calixtinus, a fundamental Jacobean book. Over the centuries and due to European political and religious developments, the physical route of the French Way lost its prominence. At the end of the 19th century, a renewed interest in Jacobean themes arose, continuing in the second half of the 20th century with the progressive recovery of the old route, internationally recognized as one of the historical symbols of European unity.

The French Way, as it passes through Spain, runs from Roncesvalles to Santiago and passes through Arzúa and Melide in its final stages. Our hotel is located near these two towns, making it an excellent base for those wanting to complete this last section of the French Way.

The Primitive Way.

The Primitive Way was a route frequently traveled by the Astur-Galician people during the 9th century and much of the 10th century, and it also attracted pilgrims from other parts of northern Spain and Europe. In 2015, it was recognized by UNESCO, along with the Northern Way, as a World Heritage Site. It connects Oviedo with Santiago de Compostela and runs largely along Roman roadways.

This Jacobean route passes just a few meters from our hotel, making it an ideal location for those wishing to walk this path.

The Northern Way.

Just like the Primitive Way, the Northern Way became a heavily traveled pilgrimage route in the 9th and 10th centuries. And although the French Way has become the most frequented route, the Northern Way maintains a significant number of pilgrims.

The Northern Way is the route that takes pilgrims along the beautiful Cantabrian Coast, starting in the Basque Country, passing through Cantabria and Asturias, and reaching Santiago de Compostela. Along this coastal route, you will discover fascinating cities, fishing villages, beautiful beaches, and enjoy the local cuisine. This route not only attracts pilgrims from the northern Iberian Peninsula but also from other lands such as Scandinavia, England, Flanders, and Germany; many make the journey by sea to northern Spanish ports before continuing their route on foot to Santiago.

This route passes just a few meters from our estate, making it a perfect location for those wanting to walk the Northern Way.
